Excerpt:
It seemed as if everything was spinning around us. The sunset had faded into night but Nolan was still going. The wind grew harsher, almost intimidating. It seemed as if a tornado was coming our way from being so strong. If I weren't mistaken, chaos was trying to interrupt our perfect moment.
And then he just stopped. He stared down at me, his eyes confused. Hurt. Lost. He didn’t say a word as he pushed himself into a stand. I couldn't help but stare at him. I watched his every move. The way he buttoned his jeans sullenly. The way he ran his hand through his hair continuously. Nolan looked down at me, his eyes clouded with worry.
“I have to go,” he murmured, eyes glistening. “She needs me. I have to go.”
I couldn't speak—I wanted to so badly, but I couldn't Where did he have to go? Who needed him? It was then that I’d noticed that I wanted to stand but couldn't My body was frozen in place and the only thing that seemed to be moving was my eyes. He started to walk away from me, not looking back at all. I could hear myself crying his name but it was like he couldn't even hear me. It was like I didn't even exist—like somehow I had become invisible. Nolan’s walk turned into a sprint in the direction of the moon and I continued to watch until he was gone. Until he was completely out of sight and there was no remainder of his presence.
As soon as he was gone, I happened to inhale and scramble to my feet. I was left in the dark, alone. Terrified. Confused. I raced in the direction he had taken off in and searched for him everywhere, but I couldn't find him, no matter how hard I’d looked.

Hard to
Hold On was one of those books that had my nerves all jumbled from
the emotional roller coaster of a ride it took me on. I wanted to
cry, I wanted to scream, I wanted to laugh, I wanted a cold shower
(lol) and quite a few times I wanted to throw my Kindle across the
room..lol It also had me on the edge of my seat wondering what the
hell was going to happen next..lol It was full of drama, heartache,
pain, frustration and even a bit of mystery and I couldn't get
enough.
The book
started of a few months after Nolan & Natalie were living away
from each other while Nolan was taking care of his sick mother. They
were doing great with the long distance relationship until tragedy
strikes Nolan and he starts pushing Natalie away. Then comes all the
drama: new characters introduced, hearts broken, trust put to the
test, miscommunications, outside interferences and everything else
in-between. The chemistry between Natalie and Nolan was off the
charts but they had to decide if it was worth fighting for or if they
were better off without each other. Should they just pick up and move
on or was their love the “FOREVER” kind.
Shanora
Williams done a great job weaving a emotionally heart wrenching story
of love and the journey it takes to find true happiness. I really
loved the alternating POV because it was interesting to get into
Nolan's head and read what he is feeling and thinking. It gave the
story more depth and added to the emotional pull. This book was a
great ending to a great story. I can't wait to see what Shanora has
for us next.
