2013 is half over and this year has brought some amazing books to obsessed readers like me. I have read about 130 books so far this year and can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me. Out of those 130 books there are a few that stood out among the pack so I thought I would dedicate a day on our blog to showcase our Top 15 Reads of 2013 so far. These are books that captured our hearts and stand out above the others. As you can tell below we each have different tastes so the lists span a wide variety of Genres. At the end of the year we will do this again and see if any of the books on our lists now stick around..lol
As you can tell by my list I love badass, asshatish, dirty talking, sexy as sin Alpha Males. The dirtier, badder and sexier the better..lol I also love books that bring out every emotion possible when reading it. Those are the books that stick with me and end up in my favs.
UnBeautifully (Undeniable #2) by Madeline Sheehan
Her beautiful, dark & gritty world drawls you in and you just can't get enough. It is really hard to express in words how this book made me feel. It is such a beautiful, real, but oh so raw story that that takes you by the hand kicking and screaming and drags you through hell and back. You come out on the other side alive but you will never be the same again.
This book was amazing. It was unique with the right amount of romance, action and emotion. It ripped my heart out, made me laugh and had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next.
Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy #1) by Karina Halle
After reading On Every Street I was really scared to read this because I HATED Javier..lol But damn am I glad I did because this book was awesome and that ending about KILLED me!! My world is a better place with Camden McQueen in it..lol
This is Alphas, Authors & Book Oh My so we have to include Kristen Ashley and her sexy as sin, mouthwatering, protective, bad as hell Alpha Males!!! Shy was fanfrekintastic and I loved everything about him!! But not only does Kristen do awesome Alpha Males but kick ass, take no shit, bad ass heroines also!! Tabby was awesome and the chemistry between the two was smokin.
This story drawls you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end and then she leaves you screaming for more..lol It is full of magic, mystery STEAMYNESS and LOL moments. Dorian is sexy as sin and I couldn't get enough of him and Gabriella is a awesome.
Bullet (Bullet #1) by Jade C. Jamison
This book had me PISSED throughout most of the book. I don't think I have ever been more mad at a character from a book in my whole life. My heart was shredded and I was really expecting to be sorely disappointed at the end. But damn is Jade C. Jamison not a fabulous writer because in the end I FREAKIN loved this book. It takes a true talent to make you love something that you wanted to throw through the wall multiple times..lol
Fighting Destiny (The Fae Chronicles #1) by Amelia Hutchins
Amelia teased us on her blog with Hot-As-Hell little snippets while she was writing this book so I was ecstatic when it finally came out. I gotta tell you, it was SOOO much more than I expected. This book had action, suspense, sexy vampires, bad ass witches, and Fae that make you want to cream your panties!! It was fast paced, action packed and full of pantie combusting sexual chemistry. I loved every second of it.
Kaleb (Alluring Indulgence #1) by Nicole Edwards
What is a book list without a little Erotic sexyness. This book was my first Nicole Edwards book and damn if I didn't fall in LOVE with her characters. She can write a sex scene like no body's business and her story lines just want to make you melt. Her books are so much more than Erotic reads. They feel real and make you want to live in them!!
Reaper's Property (Reapers MC #1) by Joanna Wylde
Their is nothing sexier than a HOT AS HELL, bad ass, alpha male biker except for one that is named Horse because he is hung like one...LOL LOVE IT!! I couldn't get enough of this book. It was sexy, emotional, action packed and full of MC bikers that just don't give a shit!! It was not quiet as emotionally gut wrenching as Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan but that is what sets it a part which is a good thing. I truly loved it and couldn't get enough.
Beyond Shame (Beyond #1) by Kit Rocha
I Really enjoyed this book. It was so different from most erotic book I have read and had such an intriguing story-line to it. The worldbuliding was complex. The characters where intense. The sexy scenes where smokin hot and the emotions where raw. Loved it and can't wait to read more from this world.
Holy Hot Mess talk about sexual frustration!!! WOW this book had me needing a change of panties every other page. Real, Raw & Ripped is the title perfect because that is exactly what you will feel after you read it!! Damn the chemistry between Remy and Brooke was so freakin HOT & INTENSE I think I have scorch marks on my Kindle.
Strings (Hard Rock Harlots #1) by Kendall Grey
Any book that starts with the warning that this book does has to have a spot on my top list. Strings was fucking brilliant. I laughed my ass off and thought my Kindle was going to burst into flames. Letty has to be one of the best heroines I have come across in a long time. Kendall Grey, girl you rocked my world. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Breach (Breach #1) by K.I. Lynn
WOW this book was an intense, smokin hot, emotional, raw, heartbreaking train wreck of a story. It smacks you in the face right from the beginning with rough, raw, dark passion between Nathan & Delilah!! Nathan is demanding, punishing, sexy as sin ALPHA MALE and has one of the HOTTEST Dirty Mouths I have ever heard. He is as dominate and demanding as an Alpha Male can be. But this story isn't just about some of the HOTTEST sex I have ever read. It is an emotional journey between two people trying to overcome their pasts.
This book was so good. Sam was an asskicking, whip wielding, bad as hell female vamp. Jared was an asshatish, sexy as hell, bad ass commander of the Grand Masters private army. Even though sparks fly between the two they but heads constantly. The world building was awesome and I loved Suzanne's take on Vampires.
Real Ugly (Hard Rock Roots #1) by C.M. Stunich
Wow this book was hard core Sex, Drugs & Rock-N-Roll and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it!! This book was Raw & Real with a whole lot of SEXY!! Naomi and Turner can't stand each other but despite their loathing for one another the chemistry between them is off the charts and they don't know how to handle it.
Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Duh! I'm obsessed with Travis Maddox and getting to experience his side of things was absolutely wonderful and definitely completed the story. I wanted in his head and wasn't let down.

What is it with me and the male pov? This book was a million times more emotional than Hopeless. It made me fall even more in love with Holder.
Tangled by Emma Chase
Yep, another male pov book! This one is hilarious! It's up there with Seduction and Snacks on the humor scale.
I realize this is a novella, but I loved Adam and Ellie so much that I wanted their backstory. It was even cuter than I imagined.
Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec
One of the funniest books I've ever read! And I totally identify with the girls. I could read this one over and over again.
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Wow. This story is so unique. I have nothing to compare it to, but it's emotionally compelling.
Pulse by Gail McHugh
It's a newer release, but already rocketed to an all-time fave. And Gavin Blake makes it to my number 2 BBF spot.
UnBeautifully by Madeline Sheehan
Sheehan is a genius. I didn't think she'd surpass the awesomeness of Undeniable, but she did.
Emerge by S.E. Hall
I had no idea what to expect going into this book. It completely blew me away. It's one that has stuck with me, even after a month has passed.
Watch Over Me by Tara Sivec
*sigh* This is a beautiful book. I loved the flawed characters and the adorable romance.
Into the Deep by Samantha Young
Samantha Young is brilliant. I feel like she can do no wrong. A fabulous story about second chance love.
Fighting For Flight by J.B. Salsbury
I have a thing for bad ass fighter guys too. This one isn't as popular and I'm not sure why. There's a lot more going on than romance!
Avoiding Responsibility by K.A. Linde
This series had me so up and down it was insane. But to me, that's the sign of a good book. I cannot get these characters out of my head!
Relentless by Cassia Leo
A story about broken characters who find each other when they need each other the most. It takes an emotional toll on you, but definitely worth it.
A different take on motorcycle clubs. I loved Horse and enjoyed this one A LOT. It's not as gritty as most of the MC books, but there's something about it I liked.
I love a good rock star read… and one with a military hero… or a sports star… ooh, and definitely a biker too!! So many great books, so little time… my top 15 reads so far this year are listed in no particular order.
Racing on the Edge series by Shey Stahl
Jameson Riley is one sexy racecar driver, and this 5 book series showing his evolving relationship with childhood best friend Sway and their families is one that I will re-read again and again. (Actually, I may have already re-read it once… or twice…)
Kaleb and Zane (Alluring Indulgence series) by Nicole Edwards
These are the first two books in a series about 7 brothers who happen to be Texas cowboys who play harder than they work and are hotter than the Texas sun on a July day. They don’t mind mixing things up to include trusted friends in their playtime to keep their women satisfied- and did I mention that Alluring Indulgence is the name of the adult by-invitation only resort that they are building? Need I say more? Get the fans and sponges ready, and crack open this series ladies!
Fight with Me and Play with Me by Kristen Proby
Nate McKenna is a tattooed former MMA fighter turned business man with his sights set on Jules Montgomery in Fight with Me, and Will Montgomery is her NFL star brother who pursues her college friend Meg in Play with Me. These guys know how to turn up the heat, and they go after what and who they want letting nothing get in their way. If you haven’t read the With Me in Seattle series yet, I highly recommend it. The Montgomery and Williams families are a whole lot of fun, and the next book up in the series, Safe with Me, will focus on Caleb Montgomery who is also a Navy SEAL. Ms. Proby has started releasing teasers from his book and all the end of September release date can’t get here fast enough!
Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde
I loved Horse and Marie’s story. At first I was hesitant to pick it up based on the price tag, but the story line was oh-so-worth it. Horse is one of my favorite alpha-male bikers with a softer side that comes out for Marie only, and I am definitely looking forward to the next story in this series early in 2014.
Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec
I had this one on my Kindle for a while before I decided to read it, and I kicked myself for waiting. It was absolutely hilarious from start to finish, so if you need a pick-me-up and haven’t read it yet, definitely grab a copy and dig in.
Reckless by SC Stephens
Oh the ever so sexy/ yummy/ swoon-worthy Kellan Kyle! This was such a fantastic ending to the series, and even though the wait for the release felt like it took forever, it was so worth the wait. Kellan will always be one of my top 5 book boyfriends for so many reasons.
Own the Wind by Kristen Ashley
I LOVE KA’s books, and she is an auto-buy for me with pretty much any new release. I have been dying to read this book since Tabby and Shy’s story was set up at the end of Motorcycle Man and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Shy was everything Tabby needed him to be, whether it was friend, lover or both, and he risked everything to be that man for her. I think I highlighted quotes in every chapter of this book.
Thrill Ride by Julie Ann Walker
This is the 4th book of the Black Knights Inc series which follows the members of a US special ops team disguising their activities behind the front of a custom motorcycle shop. Each book builds off the previous one, but you don’t necessarily need to read the others in order to enjoy each story. Rock and Van were so much fun. The “ragin’ Cajun” Rock is on the run after being falsely accused of treason, and Van is determined to help him as they make their way through the jungle, both literally and figuratively. Action packed and steamy, I love this series and particularly this book.
Rock My Bed/ Rock My World by Michelle Valentine
Although I liked Lane and Noel, this full length book and follow up novella about Riff and Aubrey quickly surpassed Lane and Noel’s story in my heart. Riff’s backstory was well written, and he definitely meets his match in Aubrey. I laughed, I may have cried once or twice, and I enjoyed every minute of their story.
Off Limits by Sawyer Bennett
I love a military man, and Nix Caldwell knocked my socks off. After returning from active military duty with an injury and career-ending PTSD, Nix is mad at the world. The last thing he expects is for Emily Burnham to work her way under his skin and into his heart. His dog Harley is just as much an integral character in the book as any of his human counterparts, and I was so happy to see more of their story in Off the Record.
Obsession by Jennifer Armentrout
I have been a big fan of her Lux series, so when I heard about this story where the hero is from the “bad guy” alien race the Arum, I was definitely intrigued. By the end of this story, I am not sure who to root for, the Luxen or the Arum. Hunter’s alpha traits are never far from the surface, and his scenes with Serena were HAWT. I definitely filed this one in the to-be-reread pile.
Blind Attraction by Eden Summers
This is the first book in the author’s Reckless Beat series, and it falls somewhere between a novella and full length book. Mitchell Davies from the popular rock band Reckless Beat is surprised to be drawn in by the beauty of a woman in the front row of a small concert being given for their biggest fans to celebrate the release of their new album, especially since she doesn’t seem to be a fan. Alana agrees to meet him after the show, only to have a freak incident injure her and render her blind for a few days. I liked this twist on a rock star romance, and although a few things require some suspension of disbelief, overall it took me by surprise how much I really enjoyed this book. I will definitely be checking out the 2nd book in the series, Passionate Addiction, which is Mitch’s best friend Blake’s story when it comes out in late 2013 or early 2014.
Have you read Insufferable Proximity? It's pretty freaking awesome!
