Interview & Giveaway with Laurelin Paige Author of Fixed On You

Title: Fixed On You
Author: Laurelin Paige
Release Date: June 24th

Hello Laurelin thank you so much for taking the time to give Alphas Authors & Books Oh My an Interview. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
First, thank you for having me here today. *waves* Let’s see, about me…actually it’s kind of boring. Hence the reason I write about pretend people who are much more entertaining. I’m married to a wonderfully supportive husband and have three daughters so lots of hormones in our house. I have a degree in Musical Theater and an MBA in marketing so, yeah, doesn’t it seem like I should be a writer now? I’m represented by Bob DiForio of D4EO Literary Agency, and

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer and what inspired your first book?
I’ve written for as long as I can remember. Songwriting was my go-to until I had kids. Then I started writing books for my kids hoping to get something published from that. Then I got a wild hair up my who-who and decided to write an adult book. A very adult book. I’m starting my fourth romance now and I haven’t looked back.

You’re a new Author and your first book Fixed On You is coming out June 24th can you tell us a little about it?
Fixed on You is, like a lot of other books out there these days, about two broken people who find love and peace with each other. The main character, Alayna Withers is a recent MBA grad with a history of an obsessive love disorder. While she’s got her disorder under control, she avoids dating men who might trigger her obsession. But then the club she works at is purchased by Hudson Pierce, a hot business man with issues of his own, and she is instantly attracted to him. He’s the type of guy who could pull her into old habits—bad habits—and she knows she should avoid him at all costs. Except he makes her an offer she can’t refuse, and he is the owner of the place that she works, so there’s no escaping. To make matters more interesting, Hudson wants Alayna in his bed, and he’s the type of guy who gets what he wants. I think I’ve set up the basic premise enough.

Is it going to be a series or a stand alone?
Fixed on You will be a two-parter and the sequel, Found in You, will be out Oct. 4th.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you?
I’ve read so many authors and books that have influenced me, but for this series I definitely have to cite Raine Miller and Sylvia Day for creating such sexy business man characters, I had to have one of my own.

What do you consider the hardest part of writing a book?
There’s usually a point about halfway through where I freak out and start to think I can’t possibly accomplish what I’m trying to accomplish. That’s probably the hardest part. I also seem to rewrite the first and last chapters a lot.

Do you have a favorite chapter, scene or part that you wrote and if so why?
I have a few favorite scenes that I can’t explain without spoilers. There’s also a car scene with fun banter and references to Cherry Blowpops that I enjoyed writing. I like the scenes with witty dialogue and also the ones that where characters finally grow or fall in love.

What do you do while you write? Do you listen to music, watch TV, eat snacks, need quiet, etc.?
I like either quiet or music. In fact, I have a playlist for each book I write. I don’t like anything else going on while I write, though. Even someone walking in the room can be a major distraction.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I like to sing and make music! Fortunately my day job allows me to do that. I’m very lucky to be able to do the things I enjoy.

What can we expect from you next?
Besides the sequel in October, I have another romance, Take Two, out with Samhain in Feb. 2014. I’m very excited to introduce people to those characters. Take Two was the first romance I wrote and I have a special place for it in my heart.

Now for the fun stuff, Boxers, Briefs or Commando?
Boxer briefs.

Tattoos & piercing or smooth & unmarked?
I used to have a belly ring, but it closed up when I took it out when I was pregnant. So now I’m smooth and unmarked. Unless you count stretch marks and earring holes.

Sleep in or get up early?
SLEEP IN! And when I wake up, I have to have coffee.

Fantasy or Reality?
Reality. But also Game of Thrones.

Comedy or Horror?
Comedy as long as it’s dark and not slapstick. I do like a good scare though too.

Thank you again for taking the time to let us interview you. Do you have anything else you would like to say to your fans?
I’d like to say how very excited I am to be putting my words out in the world, and I’m so appreciative of both the writing and reading community. This is an amazing opportunity for me and I truly am in awe of all the people (including bloggers) that make a book happen. I’m very grateful for the chance to be a part of this world.

Thanks again for having me! I’d like to invite your readers to enter my Two Weeks to Release Giveaway.
